Job description

This position supervises Motor Vehicle Operators within the National Park Service Roads and Trails, Maintenance Division at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The role oversees trades and labor work on a regular, full-time, and ongoing basis.Qualifications:As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a one year during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
This period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider:
  • your performance and conduct;
  • the needs and interests of the agency;
  • whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and
  • whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.
Upon completion of your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position requires that the incumbent must possess and maintain a current and valid State or District of Columbia Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). A copy of your State or District of Columbia Class A CDL needs to be uploaded as part of your application. If you are not able to provide proof that you possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License, your application will be rated as ineligible and removed from consideration.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  2. Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
  3. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
  4. Use of Measuring Instructions
  5. Reliability and Dependability as a Supervisory Motor Vehicle Operator
  6. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)
  7. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  8. Knowledge of Materials
