Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Manager, AV & Videography Services
Department: Ron Pearson Center
FLSA: Salary (Exempt)
Revision Date: 05/2026
About Hy-Vee
At Hy-Vee, we believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile. We're seeking professionals who bring proven skills, a desire to grow, and a commitment to work together in building a company that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.
The Role and Why It's Important
As Senior Manager, AV & Videography Services at Hy-Vee, you lead the day-to-day operations of the AV and video production function at the Ron Pearson Center, supporting both internal Hy-Vee events and external client events. You bring deep technical expertise in both live AV systems and video production, and you take pride in getting the details right - from a flawless sound check to a polished final edit. You coordinate a small team and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external clients alike. If you're someone who takes ownership of your work, enjoys mentoring others, and finds satisfaction in a production that runs without a hitch, you'll thrive in this role.
What You'll Do
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot full AV systems for corporate meetings, conferences, and live events, including audio, projection, LED lighting, and broadcast feeds.
  • Serve as the lead technician on high-visibility internal and external events, including off-site productions.
  • Configure and operate video switching systems for live production and streaming.
  • Support hybrid events by integrating solutions for both in-person and remote audiences via platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx.
  • Operate professional cinema and camera systems across a range of internal and contracted external events, including executive meetings, galas, and client productions.
  • Lead all aspects of on-location and studio shoots - from pre-production planning through post-production delivery.
  • Manage lighting setups to ensure broadcast-quality results in varied environments.
  • Direct and coach on-camera talent, including executives and non-professional speakers, to achieve the best possible performance.
  • Manage multi-camera productions and coordinate camera operators as needed and mentor AV staff and freelance crew on technical standards, best practices, and company workflows.
  • Edit and deliver polished video content, including color grading, audio mixing, motion graphics, and captions.
  • Maintain organized media libraries and archiving workflows to ensure assets are accessible and properly backed up.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including executives and their assistants, to ensure a seamless presentation experience, including pre-event tech checks, run-of-show coordination, and on-site support.
  • Serve as the primary AV point of contact for contracted external clients, coordinating event requirements, communicating expectations, and delivering a professional, client-ready experience.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to align video deliverables with brand standards and timelines.
  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and procurement recommendations for cameras, lenses, audio gear, and AV hardware.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for recurring production types.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technology solutions to keep the department current.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all company and client information.

Your Skills
  • Commitment to the Hy-Vee mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and interact with a wide range of people - from internal employees and executives to external clients - in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Expert-level proficiency with professional camera systems, video switchers, audio consoles, and broadcast AV equipment.
  • Solid understanding of signal flow, audio/video routing, and broadcast standards.
  • Experience managing or coordinating a small team, including staff and freelance crew.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and productions simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and execute solutions quickly, particularly in live event environments where issues arise in real time.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as it pertains to company and client information.

Reporting Relationships
Accountable and Reports to: Assistant Director, Ron Pearson Center
Direct Reports: Event Setup Staff, Audio Visual Technician(s), RPC Custodial Team Member(s)
Education and Experience
  • 7-10 years of professional AV and videography experience in a corporate, agency, or broadcast environment.
  • Experience supervising staff, vendors, or contract crew preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, including computers and telephones.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move equipment during event setups and teardowns.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Working Environment
This position is primarily on-site at the Ron Pearson Center, supporting both internal Hy-Vee events and contracted external client events. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring quick problem-solving and adaptability during live events. Off-site travel for productions and events is required periodically. Hours are flexible and will include evenings and weekends based on event schedules. Standard production and office equipment is used daily, including cameras, AV systems, editing software, and PC (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
