Summary
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior VDC Manager. If you have a passion for what you do, a strong drive to achieve results, the ability to solve problems creatively, and a dedication to client service and relationship management, come join us.
The primary role of the Senior VDC Manager is to oversee the successful implementation of VDC/BIM functions throughout the pursuit, preconstruction, and operations phases of the business. In addition to performing these functions, the Senior VDC Manager will be expected to lead training efforts related to technology and processes, ensure Balfour Beatty is compliant with any BIM standards mandated by a client, and set the overall direction for how technology will play a role on each project. They are involved in group/corporate level technology and process development and help to identify new technologies and processes that the department should evaluate. The Senior VDC Manager works to maintain relationships with other firms and clients and identify potential new partners skilled in the use of industry technology and processes. The top priority of the Senior VDC Manager is ensuring that Balfour Beatty leverages technology to provide meaningful impacts during the various phases of a project.
Essential Functions
  • Reviews RFP BIM requirements; provide narratives and dynamic graphics/videos for RFP responses; lead development of BIM proposal strategy during RFP and presentation phases; participate in presentations to communicate BIM/Technology value, strategy and role to clients
  • Develops case studies to show case value of BIM/Technology to clients, identifies KPIs/metrics that demonstrate value of BIM to clients.
  • Develop and enforce BIM Execution Plan on new projects
  • Leads the execution of BIM's role in preconstruction workflows.
  • Ensures the team is meeting project goals and requirements set by the BIM Execution Plan.
  • Develops schedules for BIM related activities and coordinates these with project teams to ensure alignment with overall project schedule.; monitors schedule progress.
  • Leads the BIM kick-off meeting with the project team and subcontractors.
  • Leads coordination efforts on projects while interfacing with the project team, subcontractors, and design partners.
  • Proactively pursues personal development to remain proficient in latest BIM technologies and programs.
  • Identifies and evaluates new technology to determine if it should be purchased and implemented.
  • Develops BIM process workflows to be used internally as BIM SOP for Balfour Beatty.
  • Maintains the BIM knowledge database, case studies, lessons learned, techniques and distribute knowledge.
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
  • Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.
  • Makes presentations to proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships.
  • Attend technology/BIM related Industry functions in a relationship building capacity.
  • Develop and run training & seminars for Industry organizations and clients.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Design or related field.
  • 8 years or more of experience in the implementation of BIM/technology, operations, 3D MEP Coordination, concrete shop drawing creation or related roles.
  • Experienced and familiar with team based delivery and collaboration, contracting and the design-build process.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using the basics functions of a personal computer (email, internet, Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, etc).
  • Is proficient using or knowledgeable of the following project management software: Procore, Bluebeam
  • Is proficient using or knowledgeable of the following software: Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-up, InfraWorks, and BIM 360 products.
  • Is proficient using or knowledgeable of the following hardware: laser scanners, drones, VR/AR, and robotic total stations

  • Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while exceeding expectations of clients.
  • Is proficient in Adobe Creative Design Suite
  • Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written skills.

The compensation for the VDC Manger position is $120,000- $160.000.
