Job description

Salary Range: $76.65 - $93.46 + applicable differentials 

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Laboratory Supervisor, or Lead CLS, the CLS performs technical procedures working with little no direct supervision in any area of the clinical laboratory. These areas include Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis. Must perform and report timely and accurate test results to assist physicians in their diagnosis and treatment. Duties include tasks, computer usage, related laboratory services. Works with potentially infectious blood and body fluid specimens. Must be competent to assess and meet the needs of patients of all age groups or contact appropriate hospital resource for guidance. Must also maintain a working knowledge of CLIA, FDA, and Agency standards.

In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties, shifts, or department rotations as required.
Education
Required: B.S. or equivalent in medical technology or biological sciences
Desired: Advanced degree or certification

Licenses/Certifications
Required: Current CA CLS license

Work Experience
Required: 0-3 years of experience in a hospital or reference laboratory
Desired: Generalist experience in all areas of the laboratory

Language Skills
Required: Ability to read, comprehend and write English with good spoken skills

Computer Skills
Required: Working knowledge of LIS systems. must be proficient with standard word processing, spreadsheets, power point, or similar programs
Desired: background/knowledge of standards DB systems desirable

Oher Skills and Abilities
Required: experience with automated laboratory instruments, effective verbal and written communication skills

Other Qualifications
Required: Must be able to work weekends, variable shifts, etc.
