By leveraging data from databases or external files, VDP enables businesses to create highly targeted and individualized communications, improving engagement and response rates. The flexibility and efficiency of VDP make it a valuable tool for modern print marketing strategies.

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It's why we have a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. And it's why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it's worth paying for.
The Times is seeking an innovative analytics director who is passionate about data and eager for the opportunity to support the Times journalistic mission.
As part of the Data and Insights Group (DIG), you will join a large community of talented data leaders who partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and PMO teams across the business. • You will oversee team deliverables and represent the team's work and impact at the executive level
  • You will democratize data and insights through skillful data structuring and use of visualization tools
  • You will navigate through ambiguity and organizational structures to advise stakeholders on how to best evaluate and implement initiatives from a data perspective
  • You will proactively lead data projects by fostering collaboration, building consensus and driving initiatives to successful completion
  • You will demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience working with data analytics or data science teams to deliver reporting, analysis and insight or a quantitative degree
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Mode, Tableau, or Looker

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Google BigQuery, AWS, or other big data environments
  • Comfort with version control (Github, code review)
