This role contributes to Nordstrom's success by supporting a high-performing team that develops and executes sourcing strategies across the Software & Hardware portfolio (Indirect Spend, non-merchandise), strategically delivering measurable outcomes that drive top- and bottom-line growth, competitive advantage, and corporate social responsibility leadership.The Sr. Manager, Strategic Sourcing - Software & Hardware also drives the hardware and store technology categories, including VAR strategy, while supporting individual contributors responsible for enterprise software, renewal strategy, and business software. The role partners closely with Technology and Product teams and leadership to shape strategy, mitigate risk, drive enforceable business outcomes, and influence executive decisions.

** This role is Hybrid and does require you to be in office up to 4 days per week in our Centennial, Colorado corporate office location.

A day in the life...

  • Lead and support contract lifecycle work across hardware, devices, SaaS, and VAR services, while coaching direct reports on negotiation, category strategy, and stakeholder management, flexing coaching styles to grow capability.
  • Lead highly complex cross-functional efforts, shaping category strategy, building VP- and executive-level alignment, and driving favorable outcomes on ambitious timelines.
  • Influence at the executive level and synthesize complex stakeholder positions into clear, data-driven recommendations (including TCO modeling), proactively communicating progress and risk, and representing Nordstrom in escalated supplier engagements.
  • Employ strong knowledge of key hardware and software industry players, competitors, and market dynamics, including component market challenges.
  • Build relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players and proactively manage and measure supplier performance for continuous improvement.
  • Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions, and techniques.
  • Independently draft and redline a wide variety of technology agreements, including master agreements, SOWs, and catalog-enablement agreements.
  • Drive employee engagement and development through consistent Connects and timely coaching feedback.
  • Lead the team through ambiguity and change, modeling a positive attitude and continuous-improvement mindset, anticipating where the category and operating model need to evolve, and making both strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Drive day-to-day oversight of the team's portfolio and a robust savings pipeline linked to category strategy and FY targets, and partner with Finance to incorporate budget and P&L impact into sourcing strategy.

You own this if you have...

  • 8+ years of experience in software and hardware category management, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiation, including direct people-leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop talent and build a team that holds itself accountable to prioritize critical work.
  • Strong knowledge of market analysis, category strategy, SRM, "should-cost" models, multi-year negotiation strategies, supplier continuous-improvement programs, and software/hardware contracting trends and licensing models, as well as Lean Initiatives.
  • Knowledge of technology procurement legal requirements, contracting best practices, business ethics, and Ethical Sourcing Requirements.
  • Proven ability to influence at the executive level (internally and externally) and lead peer groups through complex decisioning.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite, source-to-pay tools, CLM tools, AI, workflow automation applications, and others.
  • Ability to conduct and manage concurrent sourcing events, evaluate bids against a broad set of evaluation criteria, and provide data-driven recommendations for supplier selection.
  • Supplier risk management experience.
  • A proven track record of executing successful negotiation tactics and strategies and driving complex negotiations at speed that result in cost savings and risk avoidance.
  • Financial acumen and ability to connect sourcing outcomes to P&L impact, partner with Finance, and incorporate budget realities into category strategies.
