Company Description: H.J. Martin and Son is a specialty contractor with services in residential & commercial flooring, commercial glass, walls & ceilings, doors, hardware & specialties, and millwork & FF&E, along with national retail solutions, including fixture installation. Founded in 1931, the fourth-generation company works nationwide from its headquarters in Green Bay, Wis.

Material Handler - Receiver Position Description: We are seeking a Material Handler to help with the pulling of material, loading company vans, and other warehouse duties as needed.

Material Handler - Receiver Responsibilities:

  • Pull orders, stage, and load vans with special order and stock material, as needed

  • Responsible for residential material picking and loading

  • Lift and handle material coming into and leaving the warehouse and properly inspect, as needed

  • Pull and stage material for customer and sub-contractor pickups – and assist upon arrival to pick up, as needed

  • Communicate directly with receiving and inventory control to troubleshoot any assigned problems with purchase orders, deliveries, or pickups that require special attention

  • Monitor inventory control emails throughout the day and coordinate material movement, as needed

  • Communicate with installers and crew coordinators to ensure all material is properly picked – and pull last minute requests as required

  • Monitor inventory – all material that leaves or comes back to the warehouse must be tracked in RFMS

  • Maintain accurate inventory, complete inventory spot checks, reconcile variances, as assigned

  • Assist in preparation, execution and reconciliation of annual inventory audit with management

  • Complete inventory spot checks as assigned

  • Work directly with the warehouse manager to coordinate spot checks and enter adjustments as needed

  • Assist with loading and unloading of vans as requested

  • Assist in deliveries to various locations as needed throughout the week

  • Provide help with general distribution center tasks as required

  • Preparation and participation in close-out sales

  • Keep an up-to-date list of displays and samples that are received weekly and work with merchandising manager to determine what should be added to the showroom

  • Set up displays and place in showroom as well as remove existing outdated samples from the showroom

  • Work closely with the merchandising manager to take all pictures of material that needs to be added to the shop site, add new materials to the shop site, and monitor movement of existing products.

  • Handle and distribute all FedEx and incoming mail

  • Final check all load at the end of the day for quality control before they are loaded into the installer’s vans

  • Back up for cutting and binding carpet, as needed

  • Back up for material handler, load coordinator, and receiving, as needed

  • Lead the rotation of old inventory to keep the oldest material on top

  • Assist with inventory control inquiries

  • Additional projects and duties as assigned

Experience/Education Required:

  • Willing to work flexible hours

  • Ability to operate or be certified to operate a forklift

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • Great time management, organizational, and analytical skills and the ability to multi-task

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Team player

  • Familiarity with computers and software programs

  • Driver’s license required

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires strenuous physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing and/or pulling objects

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to pass background check, physical, and pre-employment drug screen
