Job description

School Van Driver (No CDL Required)

School van drivers transport students to and from school, as well as, to and from special events such as field trips. School van drivers are responsible for keeping to a specific route schedule while keeping passenger safety the highest priority.

Responsibilities:

  • Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
  • Being alert to traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety
  • Regularly checking vehicle safety through pre-trip and post trip inspections and consistent monitoring of vehicle condition while driving
  • Monthly reporting of fuel consumption and mileage
  • Responding to emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Reporting delays, accidents, and emergencies
  • Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the van
  • Maintaining a clean vehicle, including a weekly washing, sweeping, and dusting

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Excellent driving skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass physical and drug test
  • Must obtain required clearances
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Patience
  • Excellent communication skills
