The Opportunity
The Tax Intern will support Valvoline's Transaction Tax Specialist on all aspects of State and Local sales, use, property, and business license tax compliance processes. Duties include tax return preparation, documentation/retention of State and Local transaction tax returns, support for state and local sales tax audits, and assistance with store-related tax issues.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with accurate and timely filing of state and local tax returns and business licenses, including maintaining documentation and processing payments.
  • Support Transaction Tax team with sales and use tax audits, including pulling and analyzing supporting documents and preparing schedules for audit support.
  • Work with exemption certificates and store requests for tax support.
  • Assist with maintaining sales tax rates records for 800+ retail locations.
  • Provide other support for Transaction Tax, including Property tax, and possibly State and Federal Income Tax, team(s) as needed.
  • Other tax and accounting tasks as needed

What You'll Need
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Working towards Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field; focus in taxation a plus
  • Technology savvy
  • Team player
  • Ability to communicate with analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
