Job description

The Valve Tester performs pressure testing and inspection of valves to ensure compliance with API and customer standards. This role operates testing equipment, generates electronic reports, and supports safe, accurate shop operations in a fast-paced production environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret shop work instructions, shop procedures, industry or customer specifications
  • Perform pressure testing of valves
  • Generate electronic pressure testing reports
  • Operate various pressure testing stands
  • Operate forklift (propane and standing electric) and other warehouse equipment
  • Significant overtime and weekend work required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to stand, crouch, bend for 8 hour shifts
  • Must be able lift up to 40 Lbs. on occasion
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience in material handling (overhead crane experience a plus)
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of API 598 valve testing standards
  • Knowledge of 6D valve testing standards
  • Helium testing not required but a major plus
  • Knowledge of MSSP-70/80 test standards
  • Knowledge of API-602 valve test standards

Education and Qualifications

  • High school or GED required (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years as a Valve Technician
  • Forklift Operator Training
  • Must be able to speak & write English
