Valve Tester
Overview
  • This position performs on-site work in the assembly, maintenance, testing and inspection of manual and/or hydraulic valves utilized in Oil & Gas fracturing operations.
  • Travels to remote client worksites to perform service on equipment.
  • Possesses strong technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve problems without any direct supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understands and follows all HR, HSE and Quality Management Policies.
  • Attends and engages in all OJT led by a Shop Technician II, III or Supervisor, and any other available training that is required to perform job successfully.
  • Responsible for frac stack lubrication that meets manufacturer's specifications before equipment is deployed into production environments.
  • Rebuilds valves Catalogs replacement parts in/out of valves per API standards Creates damage sheets for rebills to customer Inventories valve parts.
  • Repairs frac valves on client work sites.
  • Assists in all facets of equipment maintenance, preparation, testing and appearance as directed and as specific to Flowback operations.
  • Responsible for maintenance and operation of the support equipment necessary to prepare the pressure equipment for storage or job prep. (Steam Cleaner, Forklift, Crane, Pressure Test Unit, Torque Units, Paint Booth Apparatus).
  • Keeps working area and facility in an organized and neat condition.
  • Available to workdays and times necessary to complete required work.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment.
  • Requires employee to stand for up to 100% of the time.
  • Requires employees to climb ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 80 - 95 pounds.
  • High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection.
  • This position requires working in outdoor Shop environment consisting of wet, and/or humid conditions as well as extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Requires employees to climb heights of at least 10 feet moving and maintaining self in different positions-stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and small spaces.
  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Skills and Abilities
  • Perform pressure testing utilizing certified test equipment and complete all QA/ QC documentation as required by the QHSE program (if skilled).
  • Perform hands-on workshop and/ or on-site disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of valves and actuators and other equipment. Machine material and/ or parts with various machining equipment.
  • Ensure work and used materials follow manufacturer specifications.
  • Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required including completion of applicable quality documentation in either paper or electronic form.
  • Perform failure assessments and make recommendations to the on-site supervisor as required.
  • Perform day-to-day and routine safety observations and inspections
  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Skilled in the use of overhead crane and forklift equipment.
  • Must be able to work with little to no supervision, executing work based on established expectations.
  • Ability to follow proper protocol for incident reporting and emergency situations.
  • Ability to understand and follow protocol with Stop Work Authority
  • Ability to identify top priorities in a high-volume multitask work environment and the ability to determine critical few and know when to communicate issues and escalate them for decision-making.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Able to withstand the mental and physical stress brought in by the element of an outdoor work environment.

Required Education & Experience
  • At least 1-year recent, practical experience with Flowback equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • PEC/SafeLand.
  • Smith Driving Instruction.
  • Forklift.
  • Arial Lift.
  • Fall Protection.
  • Additional training to be assigned as needed.
