Department/Unit: Materials Management/Main Campus

Expected Starting Salary: $ 31.43 - 39.59

Responsibilities

Value Analysis & Change Management:

Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Participates in evaluation and implementation process for assigned area by identifying resources needed, impact on clinical policies and procedures, communication and educational needs and purchasing and logistics needs. Adheres to a project plan or timeline. Summarizes outcomes, reports issue and seeks consensus an approval in accordance with established procedures. Responsible for identifying needs to obtain and share information related to assigned functions and areas. Works with others to develop communication and education plans. Prepares and presents updates as requested.

Liaison:

Interacts with clinical and non-clinical staff hospital wide as a committee participant. Works with physicians, clinicians, vendors, team members and other departments as needed to achieve consensus. Serves as a resource to materials and clinical staff regarding products and services. Works closely with Materials Management and Purchasing teams to facilitate interactions and processes.

Resource Management:

Supports material resource selection, standardization and utilization initiatives in assigned area. Understands and utilizes value analysis in the decision-making process. Participates in product utilization reviews for opportunities to maximize product standardization or improve utilization. Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice and product related to assigned area of focus. Works closely with purchasing to ensure all phases of data capture and analysis are conducted in accordance with appropriate clinical parameters. Assists procurement staff with alternate sourcing when issues with product availability arise. Assists materials staff with cataloging of products for material information systems to ensure reporting related to product usage remains accurate. Summarizes and reports results, monitors outcomes of implementations and analyzes variance in predicted usage and outcomes. Monitors defective products and initiates product reviews with manufacturers and/or suppliers when needed. Communicates product changes and substitutions to users for identified items. Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical staff to facilitate product recalls.

Miscellaneous:

Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information. Ensure that work areas are organized, cleaned daily and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients and families. Adhere to all safe work practices and policies in the department. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures. Understands, adheres to and models Core Values as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit. Maintain knowledge and professional skills through cross-training, literature and attendance at department meetings. Perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership:

Applies clinical knowledge to established value analysis processes; product utilization reviews and product change management processes and serves as a material services liaison to the assigned clinical areas. Facilitates interactions between clinical and non-clinical staff. Serves as a supply chain contact for clinical staff. Assists supply chain staff by providing clinical knowledge related to product use. Provides instruction to clinicians on value analysis, procurement, and inventory management and distribution processes

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Required:

Bachelor's degree in related field

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a clinical healthcare setting

Preferred:

Data collection and analysis experience

Current licensure in a health-related profession (Ex. RN, RRT)
