Description

Reliable Safety & Flow Corporation is seeking a Value Stream Manager (VSM) to lead, coordinate, and continuously improve one of two product value streams (Gruvlok or Threaded Fittings) within the machine shop. This role is responsible for ensuring customer requirements are achieved at the highest levels of safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness. The Value Stream Manager serves as a key operational leader, integrating people, materials, machines, processes, and lead times to drive performance and achieve business objectives.

How You Will Help
  • Lead a cross-functional team of supervisors, engineers, and operators within the assigned value stream.
  • Build and sustain a culture of accountability, teamwork, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Own value stream performance and ensure achievement of key performance indicators, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and lead time.
  • Collaborate closely with planning, scheduling, materials, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient flow of materials and on-time customer delivery.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean manufacturing principles including 5S, Kaizen, SMED, standard work, visual management, and waste reduction methodologies.
  • Develop and execute value stream roadmaps that align operational performance with business growth objectives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for capital investment, automation, technology enhancements, and process improvements to improve competitiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to resolve recurring issues, improve first-pass yield, and enhance overall product quality.
  • Track, analyze, and report daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance metrics to leadership.
  • Lead Gemba walks, value stream reviews, and operational meetings to monitor performance, remove obstacles, and ensure alignment across functions.
  • Drive employee involvement and ownership in achieving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Support strategic initiatives focused on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustainable growth.

What You Will Bring Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably within machining, metalworking, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading teams of 50+ employees in a production setting.
  • Strong people leadership skills with demonstrated success developing, coaching, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, material flow, and supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience monitoring and driving operational KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • ERP/MRP system experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within machining, metalworking, castings, fittings, or related manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives that have delivered measurable business results.
  • Experience leading value stream transformations, process automation projects, or capital investment initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of shop floor management systems, production scheduling, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a passion for engaging employees on the production floor.
  • Ability to balance daily operational execution with long-term strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated success driving cultural change, employee engagement, and accountability within manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong customer focus and business acumen.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment.
