About the Role

The Pensacola VA Clinic is seeking a passionate Gastroenterologist to bring high-quality healthcare directly to Veterans in the Gulf Coast region, offering primary care, mental health services, and specialty care in a modern, well-equipped setting. Job Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
The incumbent physician is expected to provide comprehensive patient care in the form of invasive, non-invasive, consultative, and inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology patient care at the GCVHCS, Pensacola, FL. The incumbent is accountable to the Chief of Gastroenterology section assuring the most effective delivery of care in services within Medical Service. Operates or directs the operation of diagnostic equipment for medical procedures, which includes:
Current BLS/ACLS required
Moderate Sedation Privileges and certification required
Fluoroscopy privileges and certification
Upper Endoscopy
Lower Endoscopy
Paracentesis
ERCP
Manometry desirable but not required
Consultative input to outpatient and inpatient care, including Hepatitis C therapies. Collaborate with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation. Performs the administrative components of patient care management, such as:
Participate in the educational programs for the section personnel as well as the medical staff.
Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level. Miscellaneous activities of the Medical Service include, but not limited to, special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of gastroenterology/Chief of Medicine/Chief of Staff and the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Executive Leadership.
Attend Gastroenterology team meetings - Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization
Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews
Attend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and COS quarterly meetings as per bylaws
Complete medical records in accordance with the Bylaws and the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff
Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments
Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine, his Associate and or Section Chief of Gastroenterology. Participate in, and attend, CME activities and VA continuing educational activities
