SE&V Project Engineer
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado (Onsite) OR Huntsville, AL
Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense --Secret clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.
Role Overview
This position will perform duties concentrating on early-phase activities of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle, including concept, requirements, and design. The role involves leading the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs into reviewable technical approaches and spearheading scheduling and tracking deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs into technical approaches.
  • Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts like use cases and activity diagrams.
  • Lead the development of physical and logical system models using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools.
  • Lead system interface development, converting requirements into message-level details for Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs).
  • Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews.
  • Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, and architectural documentation.
  • Interface with key stakeholders, including customer and working-level counterparts.
  • Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience: An advanced degree and 3+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent. The candidate should have wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field.
Technical Skills: Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A background in Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience.
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment developing solutions across the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience interacting with customers to elicit needs and requirements.
  • Experience with one or more elements of the Missile Defense System.
  • Experience with elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions.
  • Experience with complex Command and Control Systems.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo.
  • PMP Certification is desired but not required.
Work Environment
Work will be performed as a member of an Agile Scrum team. This is a 100% in-office position that will be performed in a restricted access area. Some travel may be required.
