What is a UX designer?

UX Designers, or User Experience Designers, are professionals who focus on optimizing the overall experience users have when interacting with a product or service. They conduct research, create user personas, design wireframes and prototypes, and collaborate with other teams to ensure that products are intuitive, accessible, and enjoyable to use. Their goal is to make products that meet user needs while aligning with business objectives. They play a key role in improving customer satisfaction and loyalty by making digital interfaces user-friendly.

What does a UX designer do?

A UX (user experience) designer looks at all of the elements of a user-based website or digital experience and creates improvements with the user in mind. This can mean creating a fresh new visual design plan or revamping the entire structure of the site. The UX Designer works with content strategists, developers, and managers to create a wireframe, plan the elements of design or a stylebook, and create a new experience for testing.

They participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss user needs, share design prototypes, and gather feedback to ensure that the final product aligns with both user expectations and technical constraints. Regular check-ins and design reviews help address any challenges early, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone contributes to a user-centered outcome. Open communication and flexibility are key to successfully integrating design with development workflows.

Job description

A Senior UX Designer will assist in all aspects of lifecycle management of a product/service, leveraging design thinking and user research to translate ambiguous problems into clear, well-framed design opportunities. You will make informed design decisions, articulating trade-offs between usability, feasibility, and business priorities while ensuring all solutions align with organizational style guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Monitor all aspects of the product life cycle, including long- and short-term development, while staying apprised of design trends to maintain a competitive position.
  • Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by identifying user patterns and friction points to improve the end-to-end user journey.
  • Deliver defined features and functionality by translating insights into actionable design direction and creating high-fidelity prototypes and documentation.
  • Research data and customer behavior by conducting UX research and user studies to get direct feedback on design solutions.
  • Explore issues or needs by framing problems at the system level, identifying opportunities for reuse or simplification across the product ecosystem.
  • Execute the development plan by partnering closely with product and engineering to influence execution and navigate competing priorities.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret insights to define the right research questions, knowing when qualitative insight outweighs metrics to uncover true user needs.
  • Edit and maintain documentation for the UX/UI component library, broader style guides, and user guides for CMS solutions.
  • Work within an established project management plan to self-govern priorities and deliverables while navigating constraints constructively.
  • Review the backlog and reprioritize work by making sound design decisions even with incomplete or conflicting information.
  • Provide advice and training by mentoring other designers, helping raise the overall quality of design, and guiding teams on CMS usage.
  • Demonstrate the most valuable features through effective storytelling and design rationale to build alignment with stakeholders and outside teams.
  • Develop own capabilities by contributing to and evolving design systems to ensure long-term scalability and business impact.
Skills:
Required:
  • Design Lifecycle Management: Manages all stages of design from transactional email triggers to native app journeys.
  • Tool Proficiency: Expert-level experience with Figma and Content Management Systems (Adobe AEM preferred).
  • Systems Thinking: Frames problems at the system level and maintains UI component libraries and storybooks.
  • Communication & Storytelling: Articulates trade-offs and design rationale clearly to cross-functional partners.
  • Research Literacy: Ability to conduct research, define questions, and turn insights into action.
  • Business Alignment: Understands how design supports business strategy and aligns decisions with long-term goals.
