Target's Global UX team is a group of design, content, research, and accessibility practitioners and experts, with a passion for improving and innovating our digital experiences for Target's guests, team members, and partners. Here, we pride ourselves on designing tangible, inspiring, and impactful solutions that serve all aspects of our business - and being a part of the team means you will play a critical role for Target's digital experience by increasing ease, simplicity, value, and delight for every touchpoint.

About the role:

As a Senior Content Designer within our Guest Experience UX Team, you'll be at the forefront of Target's evolving digital landscape, shaping it for our guests and contributing to business growth. In this role, you will work closely on Target's flagship experiences that help inspire, educate, and inform guests across the shopping journey - from home page and browse, to category pages, personalized recommendations and shop destinations across surfaces.

You'll be embedded with product designers, product managers, business partners, researchers, and developers to deliver best-in-class content at scale, informing not just UI, but prototypes, design and content systems. You'll also have the support of the content design team to compare notes on systems building, messaging, language patterns, and how content comes to life across different surfaces and areas in the funnel. As a member of the team, you will contribute to advancing the broader practice of UX at Target through influence, impact, and craft, while also educating cross-functional teams when needed.

  • Develop, write, and strategize content recommendations and systems for guest-facing experiences, synthesizing Target's tone and voice, guest needs, business requirements, and UX principles into one cohesive journey.

  • Collaborate closely with designers, product owners, researchers, accessibility consultants, data analysts, software engineers, and content design peers.
  • Advocate for guest communication needs and priorities, helping guests discover relevant products, build confidence and consideration, move from inspiration to exploration, and reduce decision friction
  • Conduct basic user experience research with the guidance of the UX research team, collaborating with researchers to identify larger research needs and gaps in understanding our guest behaviors and desires.
  • Learn from business data and guest insights to help inform your content.
  • Participate in critiques, workshops, and skill-development opportunities.
  • Be part of a rapidly growing culture and team committed to fostering belonging, accessibility, and authenticity for all Target guests.
  • Contribute to a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams
  • Navigate complexity and ambiguity delivering impact for guests and the business

About you:

  • 4+ years of content design and/or UX writing experience.
  • A portfolio that showcases your passion for language and commitment to UX principles.
  • Ability to present and defend the strategy and choices behind your work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to hear feedback, defend your decisions when necessary but also adjust your approach to the language or problem when necessary.
  • Interest in learning more about the intersection of language and design in user experience.
  • You value outcomes and strive toward design that is welcoming, inspiring, and clear
  • You understand how design connects to, serves, and improves business outcomes
  • Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools (i.e., Figma)
