Job description

Director of Purchasing – MultiFacility Skilled Nursing Operator

Position Summary

The Director of Purchasing is responsible for enterprise procurement strategy, supply chain operations, utilities management, and capital expenditure oversight across a growing network of skilled nursing facilities.

This role leads all purchasing functions for the organization, ensuring facilities maintain reliable access to supplies, equipment, and services while driving cost discipline, vendor standardization, and operational efficiency.

The Director partners directly with ownership and operations leadership to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, oversee utilities and infrastructure expenditures, and ensure the organization’s purchasing strategy supports both operational performance and financial sustainability.

A critical component of the role is supporting facility transitions and acquisitions by ensuring supply chain continuity, vendor integration, and contract optimization as new facilities join the organization.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Enterprise Procurement & Supply Chain

·         Lead organization-wide purchasing strategy across all facilities.

·         Oversee procurement of medical supplies, equipment, and operational goods.

·         Standardize vendors, pricing structures, and ordering processes across the portfolio.

·         Drive cost containment while maintaining clinical quality and operational continuity.

·         Monitor purchasing analytics, utilization trends, and contract performance.

·         Supervise purchasing staff and ensure efficient procurement workflows.

·         Resolve urgent supply needs and operational purchasing issues across facilities.

Vendor Contracting & Strategic Sourcing

·         Negotiate vendor contracts across medical supply, operational supply, and service categories.

·         Develop enterprise vendor relationships and pricing structures.

·         Ensure consistent contract execution and vendor performance across facilities.

·         Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities across supply categories.

Utilities Management

·         Oversee enterprise utilities including gas, electric, water, telecom, and internet services.

·         Negotiate utility contracts and monitor rate changes across facilities.

·         Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved contract structures.

·         Monitor usage trends and utility performance across the portfolio.

Capital Expenditures & Infrastructure Planning

·         Oversee capital purchasing initiatives including major equipment and facility infrastructure investments.

·         Evaluate and execute infrastructure upgrades such as boilers, HVAC systems, and energy-efficiency improvements.

·         Develop ROI analysis and savings projections for capital projects.

·         Work closely with operations leadership to prioritize and execute CapEx initiatives across the organization.

Transitions & New Facility Integration

·         Lead all purchasing-related components of facility transitions and acquisitions, ensuring uninterrupted supply chain operations, rapid vendor integration, and execution of improved vendor contracts with measurable savings.

·         The Director of Purchasing works closely with the VP of IT during transitions to coordinate technology procurement, infrastructure deployment, and vendor onboarding.

Qualifications
