Posting Closing DateJob SummaryProvides project management for design, construction, and commissioning of system projects for Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU).
Essential Job Functions - Assists with easement acquisition and negotiating land purchases, to include representing BTU in meetings with land owners as needed to address concerns and explain project.
- Supports BTU legal counsel in mitigating property issues, including condemnation proceedings.
- Serves as primary point of contact with design engineering firm(s) regarding contract development and execution; permit applications; placement, design, and construction of electric lines, structures, access roads, and all other project related items.
- Tracks, manages, and updates overall project timelines while providing regular project management of contractors and BTU personnel for all rights of way clearing; site grubbing; fencing and gate installations; construction of substations, roads and associated electric lines as it relates to assigned projects.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or similar field of study plus 4-6 years of engineering related experience or experience pertaining to high voltage substation/transmission design, siting, operations and/or construction OR a Master's Degree plus 2-4 years of experience as listed above.
Preferred:- Project Management Professional certification.
- Prior project management experience in an electric utility setting. Other equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification and training may also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of:- High voltage substation/transmission design, siting, operations and/or construction.
- Technical practices and principles in the use of the materials, equipment, tools and methods employed in the installation, maintenance and alteration of electrical lines and related appurtenances.
Ability to:- Manage multiple projects.
- Coordinate and lead activities and meetings.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Organize workload; establish priorities; and meet established deadlines.
- Use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
- Use project scheduling, spreadsheet and word processing applications (Microsoft Project/Word/Excel/Outlook) to prepare clear and concise documents, correspondence and other written materials.
- Interpret, explain and abide by City and departmental administrative directives, policies and procedures.
- Provide management with sound, positive advice and information concerning incumbent's area of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and to communicate effectively with the public and other required entities.

Licenses, Certifications & Special RequirementsTexas Class C driver's license with a good driving record as measured by the City's evaluation system.
Physical DemandsPhysical demands include but are not limited to: sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, driving, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, crawling, climbing, and using hands and fingers to operate equipment and to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Working ConditionsWorks in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office and outside in varied weather conditions.
EquipmentWork shall be performed with tools, appliances and equipment approved by those agencies and bodies that have control, authority, or approval of the design working ranges or limitations of those items; the employee has the responsibility to conform to those ranges and limitations.
Equipment may include but is not limited to: telephone, computer, printer, copier and various other office equipment.
