Job Description - Project Engineer -Utility & Infrastructure

LiveWire Construction's Utility & Infrastructure Division is seeking a Project Engineer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals eager to build a career in the Utility & Infrastructure and project engineering. Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project logs, meeting minutes, and correspondence with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Assist field teams with material verification, installation compliance, and redline markups.

Technical & Construction Support

  • Evaluate drawings and technical specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with designers, vendors, and field crews to resolve conflicts and implement design revisions.
  • Assist in developing work packages, sequencing plans, and quality control documentation.
  • Support procurement and submittals for switchgear, transformers, cabling, and related electrical equipment.

Agency & Compliance Coordination

  • Interface with public agencies to support submittals, inspections, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring work complies with NEC, agency standards, and project-specific specifications.
  • Support permit applications, utility coordination, and traffic control submittals as required.

Project Controls & Reporting

  • Track quantities, costs, and progress for billing, schedule updates, and reporting.
  • Assist with change order documentation, pay applications, and force account / T&M tracking.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings and support project closeout documentation.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience in construction coordination, inspection, or project engineering, preferably within infrastructure, utility or electrical construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF markup software (Bluebeam).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with public agency documentation and construction processes.
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems, underground electrical, and indoor industrial electrical systems.
  • Field experience on public infrastructure or utility projects.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
