Job description

Hiring a utility worker in Bowerston on 1st shift! The hours are 4:30am-3pm M-F it pays $14.50/hr.
The primary responsibility of a utility/general operator is to support the various functions efficiently and safely within the lineal / rail department. The successful employee in this position will be self-motivated receiving general supervision from management and machine operators. The duties of this position will be varied and require a fast pace that supports the production activities of the department. Mastery of the duties and responsibilities of the position combined with good attendance, a positive demeanor and good working relationships will provide a strong foundation for advancement to other positions within the organization.
Set up and operate shrink wrapping equipment. Troubleshoot equipment and process; identify opportunities for a more efficient process.
Assist machine operators ensuring needed supplies and product is available for processing allowing downtime/changeover goals to be met.
Read work orders and examine product specifications to assist machine operators in achieving output and quality goals. Ensure feed rate supports machine specs and goals. Anticipate next steps in the process, proactively prepare to support machine operators.
Assist with loading, processing, and stacking material through the glue press operation.
Material handling to support needs of production process using pallet jacks and manual movement.
Inspect material for defects prior to and after processing
Sand, package and label work in process and finished products.
Will be using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures and visual inspection ensure work in process and finished products conformance to specifications.
Ensures processes support achieving goals for output, downtime, and scrap, responsible for quality of product being produced and/or handle. Report concerns and inconsistencies to supervision.
Accurately report production activity through computer system transactions and written documents and reports
Train to become the backup on each machine and process within in the department.
Identifies and communicates machine maintenance and / or performance issues to supervision
Ensure proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use
Provide coverage as needed in other areas within or outside of the department
Ensure work areas are maintained in clean and organized fashion.
Other tasks may be assigned based upon the current work load and the needs of the company and customer
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Previous experience in a factory setting; exposure to machine operation and setup is a plus
Ability to use a computer to navigate to information needed, perform inquires, report on and update production activity, print reports and labels
Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule
Good problem solving abilities
Detail oriented and organized
Good oral and written communication skills
Basic math skills
Must be comfortable with varied assignments/duties and operating various types of machinery.
Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Must be self-motivated requiring minimal supervision
Ability to interface with co-workers and other departments
Must familiar with established safety policies, procedures
