Purpose

This role will be part of our Liberty Business Service Fixed Asset Lifecycle Team and will perform regulated utility accounting and analytic functions to accurately prepare and report on the Company's financial statements and disclosures relating to PP&E, while ensuring adherence to specific utility regulations such as FERC, NARUC and GAAP accounting standards.

Accountabilities

Maintaining continuing property ledgers, maintaining work order statuses, analyzing fixed asset costs, tracking depreciation, preparing regulatory and financial reports, ensuring compliance with utility-specific rules, and assisting with internal and external audits. 

Essential skills include a strong knowledge of utility accounting principles, experience with financial systems, analytical abilities, and proficiency in regulatory frameworks, ability to analyze financial data, perform variance analysis, and provide insights to support decision-making and rate cases. 

Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, is required
  • Certifications: CPA or CMA certification is preferred
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and specialized utility accounting principles.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with financial and accounting software. SAP S/4 Hana and PowerPlan would be a benefit
  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to interpret data and explain financial information. 
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulations from bodies like the SEC and FERC/NARUC
