Job description

Red Rock Construction is seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to lead underground utility crews on commercial and public infrastructure projects.

This position is responsible for field execution, crew leadership, safety compliance, and production efficiency. The Utility Foreman plays a critical role in delivering projects on schedule, on budget, and to specification.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and leads from the front.


Position Overview

The Utility Foreman will oversee installation of:

  • Water main

  • Sanitary sewer

  • Storm sewer

  • Service lines

  • Manholes and structures

  • Site grading associated with utility work

This position reports directly to the Superintendent and works closely with operators and laborers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise utility crew in daily operations

  • Interpret plans, profiles, and utility specifications

  • Coordinate with project managers and inspectors

  • Ensure grade accuracy and layout execution

  • Monitor production rates and maintain schedule

  • Enforce safety standards and OSHA compliance

  • Maintain jobsite documentation and daily reporting

  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively

  • Communicate clearly with crew, subcontractors, and inspectors


Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in underground utility installation

  • Proven leadership experience as a foreman or crew lead

  • Strong understanding of grade control and elevations

  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans

  • Knowledge of trench safety and shoring requirements

  • Experience with public/municipal projects preferred

  • CDL preferred but not required

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
