Position Summary
Responsible to support the safe and effective operation, installation, and maintenance of all building environmental automation control systems on campus. Responsible for the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of campus electrical under the supervision of the Manager of HVAC.
Date of first consideration: 05/07/2026.
Essential Functions
  • Work together and independently to operate, repair, replace, install, and maintain campus HVAC controls, and related systems. This may include, but is not limited to, pumps, fans, air handlers, electronic operators, thennostats, and DOC/pneumatic control systems.
  • Work together independently to safely repair, install and maintain campus electrical components and systems including, but not restricted to electrical control systems, elevators, clocks, fire alarms, lighting systems, farm pump wells, water level controls, thermostats , AC and DC systems, HVAC systems, transformers, athletic scoreboards, complete campus communcations system, and any other electrical related equipment.
  • Change repair, and install new electrical equipment as required.
  • Coordinate service, installation, preventative maintenance, or other work with university personnel and/or outside conh• actors.
  • Work with HVAC Controls Supervisor in determining and planning building environmental control needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous HVAC pneumatic and/or DDC controls experience preferred. Preference given to those having experience with Honeywell or Utah Yamas systems.
  • Apprentice Electrician License. Will assist in running electrical pathways and troubleshoot electrical circuits,and replacing electrical and mechanical components.
  • Must be able to work safely with power and hand tools.
  • Demonstrated strong human relations abilities, and excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of the State and Federal regulations applicable of the area of responsibility.
  • Attend training and receive certifications related to position.
  • Interaction with campus community and vendors and contractors.
  • Working knowledge of the following computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google platform and building automation software (Honeywell or Utah Yamas preferred).
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, in English, both written and verbal, with Facilities Management staff regarding critical information, shift occurrences, work orders, problems, upcoming needs, and tasks beyond the individual's scope and capability.
  • Must have a current Utah Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Commercial, light industrial, or university campus building automation, DDC controls operation, or related HVAC experience preferred
  • Preference given to those with Honeywell or Utah Yamas automation systems experience.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks and assignments with excellent workmanship and code knowledge.
  • Proven outstanding work ethic demonstrated through previous employment or schooling.Licensed second- or third-year apprentice electrician. Journeyman licensure preferred.
