Job description

Department
The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University .
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
  • Patrols the campus and guards against theft, vandalism and other occurrences, potential or actual, which could result in loss or damage to the collection.
  • Monitors parking areas and surrounding exterior areas of venues.
  • Models and ensures compliance with the Ringling Security Operating Guidelines
  • Ensures the safety of all persons and property with a focus on customer service
  • Performs routine inspections and utilizes a golf cart, multi-line telephone, and two-way radio
  • Utilizes electronic security systems, access control points, closed circuit video systems, fire and weather monitoring systems, and computers.
As needed:
  • Assists in the execution of emergency plans concerning the evacuation of venues in the event of fire, disasters, or other emergency situations.
  • Responds to reports of individuals involved in accidents or injured on campus.
  • Maintains the daily activity Security Operations Log and ensures that system journals are electronically backed-up.
  • Prepares written reports of accidents, incidents, and general conditions.
  • Provides oversight and operation of the Ringling Museum Security Operations Center.
  • Directs the performance of security personnel in the absence of the Safety & Security Coordinator and Security Supervisors.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Ability to:
    • Stand and walk for long periods
    • Ascend/descend stairs
    • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to:
  • Work well with others to achieve common goals with teamwork and cooperation.
  • Remain calm and composed, even in stressful or challenging situations.
  • Communicate in a respectful and effective manner in-person, written, and over two-way radios.
  • Stay focused for long periods of time.

Anticipated Salary Range
$33,500 or higher annually. Final offer amount will be determined based on the education, skills, and experience of the selected applicant.
