Job description


The Office of Financial Aid is responsible for coordinating and administering all student financial assistance awarded to USF students, in compliance with Federal State and Institutional regulations and guidelines. The office is the main point of contact for all financial aid program information for current and prospective students and parents. The office is responsible for: coordinating and managing the awarding and disbursement of over $260 million in financial aid funds on an annual basis; interpreting changes to federal, state and institutional regulations and translating the effect/impact to students and parents in a manner they can understand, particularly first generation students; providing an array of financial aid support options for students and their families; and providing oversight to monitor the entire process to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
This position will be responsible for specific functions related to the awarding and disbursement of aid for USF student-athletes. The role will also assist in the administration of federal aid programs, including the Return of Title IV funds and other processes associated with the awarding and disbursement of federal financial aid for all students. Close coordination with the Athletic Compliance Office, Student Accounting Services, the Registrar's Office, and the Office of Admission will be necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state, and NCAA regulations.
Responsibilities
Awards athletic aid and monitors reports that are specific to athletes and coordinates refunds with the Student Accounting Services Office.
Assists in the review of Return of Title IV (R2T4) aid. Processes and monitors federal grant programs and related reports. Assists in the review of uncashed funds.
Provides financial aid counseling to prospective and current students and their families regarding annual financial aid eligibility, University policies, and federal and state regulations.
Responsible for interpreting student Federal, State and Institutional financial aid, and NCAA rules and policies.
Assists other teams within the financial aid office during peak times in support of the goals of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in financial aid, student services, or related areas is required; however a minimum of two years of demonstrated customer service experience may substitute for the entire one-year experience requirement.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.
• Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
• SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
• A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
• (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
• (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
• (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
• (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
• Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
