Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team.

Job Title: User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) Designer - AI Systems
Location: Chantilly, VA

Position Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced, creative and user-centered User Interface (UI)/Experience (UX) Designer to lead the design of intuitive, accessible, and mission-aligned interfaces for AI-enabled applications at a leading independent federal agency focused on financial system stability.
  • This role will play a critical part in shaping how users interact with advanced technologies-including Agentic AI, Generative AI (GenAI), and traditional ML systems-by translating complex functionality into seamless digital experiences.
  • The UX Designer will collaborate with developers, AI engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that AI automations are usable, inclusive, and aligned with agency goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • User-Centered Design
    • Lead UI/UX design efforts for AI-enabled applications, including dashboards, agent interfaces, and GenAI-powered tools.
    • Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
    • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • AI Interaction Design
    • Design intuitive user experiences for interacting with GenAI models and Agentic AI systems, including conversational interfaces and autonomous workflows.
    • Ensure that AI outputs are presented clearly, responsibly, and in context for decision-making and task execution.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to align UX design with AI capabilities and constraints.
  • Accessibility & Compliance
    • Ensure all designs meet federal accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) and usability best practices.
    • Advocate for inclusive design principles and ensure interfaces are usable by diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration & Iteration
    • Work closely with full-stack developers, technical writers, and change management specialists to deliver cohesive user experiences.
    • Participate in agile development cycles, design reviews, and sprint planning.
    • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, analytics, and evolving requirements.
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Maintain design documentation, style guides, and component libraries.
    • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and leadership.
    • Support training and onboarding materials with visual aids and user flows.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in public sector or regulated environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in UX/UI design, preferably in enterprise environments.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design for complex systems or data-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with front-end development workflows and collaboration with developers.
  • Experience designing interfaces for AI/ML applications or data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with GenAI and Agentic AI interaction patterns.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
