User Experience Project Manager information

What does a User Experience Project Manager do?

A User Experience (UX) Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of projects focused on improving the usability and user satisfaction of digital products or services. They work closely with UX designers, researchers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet user needs. Their responsibilities often include setting project timelines, managing resources, facilitating communication, and ensuring that user-centered design principles are followed throughout the project lifecycle. By bridging the gap between UX teams and other departments, UX Project Managers help create seamless and effective user experiences.

How does a User Experience Project Manager typically collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders during a project lifecycle?

A User Experience Project Manager acts as the central point of coordination between UX designers, developers, and stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle. They facilitate regular communication to ensure design objectives align with technical constraints and business goals, often leading meetings, sharing feedback, and tracking progress. This role requires balancing user needs with project timelines and resources, addressing any roadblocks, and making sure each team member understands their responsibilities. Effective collaboration is essential for delivering cohesive and user-centered solutions on schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a User Experience Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a User Experience Project Manager, you need expertise in UX principles, project management methodologies, and experience with cross-functional team leadership, often supported by a degree in design, human-computer interaction, or related fields. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira, Asana), wireframing/prototyping tools (such as Figma or Sketch), and certifications like PMP or Agile/Scrum are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you guide teams and balance user needs with business goals. These skills ensure user-centered project delivery, timely execution, and alignment between technical, design, and business objectives.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Program Coordination Lead to support a large-scale Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation program. This role will work closely with Program Directors and implementation stakeholders to drive coordination, execution discipline, dependency management, risk mitigation, and delivery readiness across multiple work streams.
This is not a standalone implementation leadership role. Instead, the successful candidate will operate as an extension of the program leadership team, ensuring alignment across functional, technical, data, integration, testing, reporting, security, and change management teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong ERP implementation experience, preferably with Oracle Fusion Cloud, and thrive in a fast-paced enterprise transformation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate activities across multiple Oracle Fusion implementation workstreams.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders, IT teams, implementation partners, and program leadership.
  • Identify and manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, gaps, and blockers.
  • Ensure alignment of priorities, milestones, deliverables, and ownership across teams.
  • Drive accountability and follow-up to maintain implementation momentum.

Program Execution & Governance
  • Support Program Directors in managing overall program cadence and execution.
  • Maintain integrated project plans, milestone trackers, RAID logs, dependency trackers, and action registers.
  • Monitor progress against key milestones and proactively identify schedule risks.
  • Track commitments, deliverables, and completion status across all workstreams.
  • Assist with governance activities, steering committee preparation, and executive reporting.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
  • Maintain active RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management processes.
  • Document, track, and escalate critical risks, issues, and blockers.
  • Coordinate mitigation plans and ensure accountability for resolution.
  • Manage decision logs and facilitate timely decision-making.
  • Monitor critical path dependencies and proactively address potential impacts.

Meeting Facilitation & Stakeholder Communication
  • Organize and facilitate program meetings, workshops, and cross-functional working sessions.
  • Develop agendas, capture meeting minutes, and document action items.
  • Publish meeting summaries and track follow-up activities to closure.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to stakeholders at all levels.

Status Reporting
  • Prepare weekly and ad hoc program status reports.
  • Develop executive-ready dashboards and leadership summaries.
  • Communicate milestone progress, key risks, dependencies, decisions, and upcoming priorities.
  • Translate complex implementation details into business-focused updates.

Testing, Cutover & Readiness Support
  • Coordinate activities across System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and defect management.
  • Support readiness planning for data migration, integrations, reporting, security, and business processes.
  • Track cutover plans, readiness checkpoints, and go-live dependencies.
  • Assist with hypercare planning and post-go-live coordination.

Implementation Partner Management
  • Coordinate deliverables and commitments across external implementation partners and internal teams.
  • Monitor partner execution and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Ensure partner activities remain aligned with overall program objectives and timelines.
  • Provide visibility into delivery status and potential risks.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Project Management or Program Coordination experience supporting enterprise-scale implementations.
  • Experience coordinating large ERP implementations, preferably Oracle Fusion Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, RAID management, dependency tracking, and program reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with business leaders, IT teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Strong proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation experience.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, finance, HR, supply chain, or ERP modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with testing, cutover, change management, and go-live readiness activities.

Success Factors
The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of driving execution across multiple teams. They will excel at managing competing priorities, facilitating collaboration, identifying risks early, and ensuring implementation activities remain aligned to program objectives and timelines.
