What does a User Experience Project Manager do?

A User Experience (UX) Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of projects focused on improving the usability and user satisfaction of digital products or services. They work closely with UX designers, researchers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet user needs. Their responsibilities often include setting project timelines, managing resources, facilitating communication, and ensuring that user-centered design principles are followed throughout the project lifecycle. By bridging the gap between UX teams and other departments, UX Project Managers help create seamless and effective user experiences.

How does a User Experience Project Manager typically collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders during a project lifecycle?

A User Experience Project Manager acts as the central point of coordination between UX designers, developers, and stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle. They facilitate regular communication to ensure design objectives align with technical constraints and business goals, often leading meetings, sharing feedback, and tracking progress. This role requires balancing user needs with project timelines and resources, addressing any roadblocks, and making sure each team member understands their responsibilities. Effective collaboration is essential for delivering cohesive and user-centered solutions on schedule.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a UI/UX Designer based in Netherlands.

This is an exciting opportunity for a UI/UX Designer to create engaging and intuitive experiences for millions of players worldwide.
You will design visually compelling game interfaces and user journeys, contributing directly to the quality and enjoyment of mobile gaming experiences.
The role combines creativity, user-centered design, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a fully remote environment.
You will work across the entire design process, from wireframes and flows to polished interfaces and in-game assets.
The position offers the chance to influence gameplay experiences while working alongside passionate professionals in the gaming industry.
You will join a supportive, trust-driven environment that encourages autonomy, innovation, and continuous professional growth.

Accountabilities:

The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for creating high-quality user experiences and visual interfaces that enhance player engagement and support successful game development projects.

  • Design intuitive and visually appealing game interfaces, UX flows, and interaction systems from concept to final implementation.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that translate gameplay concepts into effective player experiences.
  • Develop in-game UI elements, including HUDs, menus, pop-ups, icons, and other interface components.
  • Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Game Designers, Producers, and other stakeholders to align UI/UX solutions with gameplay objectives.
  • Ensure visual consistency across game interfaces by applying strong principles of composition, typography, color theory, and hierarchy.
  • Adapt designs for mobile platforms while considering usability, accessibility, and different screen layouts.
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback, usability insights, player behavior data, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve the overall visual identity and feel of game projects.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a skilled UI/UX Designer with professional experience in game design and a strong understanding of mobile user experiences, visual design principles, and player-focused workflows.

  • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design for games, with experience at a middle or senior level.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with released commercial game projects.
  • Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX principles, usability, interaction design, and responsive layout adaptation.
  • Strong visual design skills, including composition, color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience designing complete interfaces, from initial concepts and wireframes to polished final assets.
  • Hands-on experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Figma, Illustrator, or similar software.
  • Experience creating game-specific UI elements such as menus, HUDs, icons, and interactive components.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to balance creativity with usability.
  • Upper-intermediate English level or higher.
  • Passion for games and interest in the gaming industry.
  • Experience analyzing game metrics, usability testing results, free-to-play mechanics, or player behavior is a plus.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the world.
  • Flexible working hours designed to support autonomy and work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to contribute to games played by millions of users globally.
  • Collaborative and supportive environment built on trust, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity for professional development and career growth within an experienced creative team.
  • 3-month contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Supportive team culture with a strong focus on collaboration and care.
