User Experience Project Manager information

What does a User Experience Project Manager do?

A User Experience (UX) Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of projects focused on improving the usability and user satisfaction of digital products or services. They work closely with UX designers, researchers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet user needs. Their responsibilities often include setting project timelines, managing resources, facilitating communication, and ensuring that user-centered design principles are followed throughout the project lifecycle. By bridging the gap between UX teams and other departments, UX Project Managers help create seamless and effective user experiences.

How does a User Experience Project Manager typically collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders during a project lifecycle?

A User Experience Project Manager acts as the central point of coordination between UX designers, developers, and stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle. They facilitate regular communication to ensure design objectives align with technical constraints and business goals, often leading meetings, sharing feedback, and tracking progress. This role requires balancing user needs with project timelines and resources, addressing any roadblocks, and making sure each team member understands their responsibilities. Effective collaboration is essential for delivering cohesive and user-centered solutions on schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a User Experience Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a User Experience Project Manager, you need expertise in UX principles, project management methodologies, and experience with cross-functional team leadership, often supported by a degree in design, human-computer interaction, or related fields. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira, Asana), wireframing/prototyping tools (such as Figma or Sketch), and certifications like PMP or Agile/Scrum are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you guide teams and balance user needs with business goals. These skills ensure user-centered project delivery, timely execution, and alignment between technical, design, and business objectives.

Job description

Description
The Opportunity
Some people manage projects.
You build leaders who deliver them.
Alpha Inc. is looking for a Senior Project Manager who thrives on developing people just as much as delivering exceptional projects.
This isn't simply about keeping schedules on track or budgets in line. It's about building a Project Management organization that consistently delivers excellence across every project, every client, and every team.
You'll lead Project Managers, elevate operational standards, improve systems, and help shape the future of one of Hawai?i's premier heavy civil contractors. You'll coach emerging leaders, solve complex challenges, drive consistency, and create scalable processes that allow Alpha to continue growing without sacrificing quality, culture, or performance.
If you're the kind of leader who walks jobsites, mentors your team, challenges the status quo, and believes great organizations are built through great people-we want to meet you.
About Alpha Inc.
Founded and grown in Hawai?i, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, renewable energy, concrete services, drilling, and infrastructure solutions.
We don't simply build infrastructure.
We build careers.
We build communities.
We build Hawai?i.
Everything we do is guided by three Core Values:
Lead with Heart
We develop people, build trust, and lead with humility and accountability.
Strength in Unity
We collaborate across teams because the best projects are built together.
Alpha Mentality
We take ownership, solve problems, embrace challenges, and relentlessly pursue excellence.
As Senior Project Manager, you'll be one of the leaders responsible for bringing these values to life every single day.
What You'll Do
As Senior Project Manager, you'll serve as the operational leader for multiple Project Managers and complex civil construction projects while helping build the next generation of Alpha leaders.
Develop Exceptional Project Managers
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Project Managers through ongoing feedback, accountability, and career development.
Conduct performance reviews, Individual Development Plans (IDPs), coaching sessions, and succession planning.
Build leadership capability while creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
Support onboarding, mentoring, training, and calibration to ensure consistency across the entire Project Management team.
Lead Operational Excellence
Provide executive-level oversight for multiple complex civil construction projects.
Support Project Managers in resolving project challenges before they become project failures.
Drive consistency in scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contract administration, and project execution.
Monitor financial performance, staffing, workloads, schedules, profitability, and operational KPIs.
Ensure projects consistently meet Alpha's standards for safety, quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance.
Build Better Systems
Create, improve, and standardize project management systems that scale with company growth.
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements that increase consistency, productivity, profitability, and communication.
Partner with leadership to continuously improve workflows across the Civil Division.
Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Operations, Estimating, Safety, Human Resources, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
Bridge communication between field operations and office leadership.
Help align people, priorities, and processes across every phase of project execution.
Drive Strategic Growth
Support resource planning, workload balancing, organizational planning, and long-term operational initiatives.
Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Represent Alpha professionally while helping expand long-term client relationships.
What You Bring
You're more than an experienced Project Manager.
You're a leader who builds other leaders.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive project management leadership experience
  • Experience supervising Project Managers while overseeing multiple complex civil construction projects
  • Proven success developing high-performing project teams
  • Experience implementing standardized systems and operational improvements
  • Strong understanding of civil construction operations, contracts, procurement, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and risk management
Leadership
You know how to:
  • Coach instead of command
  • Hold people accountable while earning their trust
  • Navigate difficult conversations professionally
  • Develop future leaders
  • Influence across multiple departments
  • Balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution
Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Construction management software platforms
  • Financial reporting and forecasting
  • Scheduling software
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between project sites
Why Alpha?
At Alpha Inc., you'll help shape more than projects-you'll shape the future of our Civil Division.
You'll join a company that:
  • Invests heavily in leadership development
  • Believes culture is a competitive advantage
  • Values people as much as performance
  • Builds projects that strengthen Hawai?i's communities
  • Gives leaders the opportunity to leave a lasting impact

This is a role where your influence extends far beyond the next project-you'll help build the systems, teams, and leaders that define Alpha's future.

  • Tuition reimbursement (up to $500/year)
  • Company-provided equipment (role dependent)
  • Additional perks (Aflac supplemental coverage + employee discounts)
  • Employee Ambassador Program: A dedicated, real-human support resource to help you navigate life's challenges-personal or professional-by connecting you to guidance, resources, and solutions when you need them most.

Benefits eligibility may vary based on role and employment status.
