Headquartered in New York City, our culture has been recognized by Inc Magazine as a "Best Workplace," by Crain's NY as a "Best Places to Work in NYC," and as one of the 10 hottest SaaS startups in New York for two years in a row. Most recently, SecurityScorecard was named to Fast Company's annual list of the World's Most Innovative Companies for 2023 and to the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in 2023 award recognizing "forward-thinking employers for their unwavering commitment to employee engagement." SecurityScorecard is proud to be funded by world-class investors including Silver Lake Waterman, Moody's, Sequoia Capital, GV and Riverwood Capital.
About the Role:
SecurityScorecard is looking for a stellar, empathetic, and results-oriented Senior UX Manager who leads people the way great designers craft products: with intention, empathy, and an uncompromising results orientation. This is a player-coach role for someone who has mastered the senior IC craft - end-to-end product design, design systems, accessibility-first execution, AI-native workflows - and is now ready to multiply that excellence through a team.
You'll own team health, design velocity, and process - including running Agile scrum ceremonies that keep design planned, visible, and delivered on cadence with Product and Engineering. You'll spearhead the operating system of the design organization: structured workflows, transparent tracking, a governed Design System, and a feedback culture where critique is direct, kind, and elevating in both directions.
We're looking for someone human-led and empathy-driven who is also relentlessly accountable to outcomes - an excellent feedback giver and taker who brings their best self, meets people where they are, and moves the whole team in the same direction. You've done the work you'll be managing. Now you'll set the standard - and bring others up with you.
What You'll Do
  • People Leadership & Team Health: Directly manage a team of designers at a healthy span of control. Conduct meaningful 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations. Lead with empathy, own team morale and retention with measurable targets, and cultivate a culture of transparency where every designer knows where they stand and where they're headed.
  • Agile Design Process Leadership: Run and continuously improve Agile ceremonies for the design team - sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and design reviews. Integrate design seamlessly into scrum cycles alongside Product and Engineering, ensuring design work is planned, visible, estimated, and delivered on cadence - never a bottleneck, never a black box.
  • Hands-On Design Excellence: Stay close to the craft. You can own a feature end-to-end when needed - from discovery and wireframes through high-fidelity UI and production handoff - and you review, critique, and elevate the team's output daily. Your feedback raises the bar; your example sets it.
  • Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as the primary design liaison to Product Management, Engineering, and business stakeholders. Translate between design intent and business priorities fluently. Participate in roadmap planning, negotiate scope with clarity and directness, and build the cross-functional trust that makes design a strategic partner - not a service desk.
  • Research & Data Integration: Ensure the team synthesizes usability testing and behavioral analytics (FullStory, Pendo) into design iterations. Partner with UX Research to translate findings into personas, journey maps, and design decisions grounded in evidence - not opinion.
  • AI-Native Team Enablement: Champion AI-augmented design workflows across the team - Figma AI, Claude, and emerging tooling - to compress design cycles without sacrificing quality. Set adoption goals, share best practices, and model an AI-by-Design mindset.
  • Talent Development & Feedback Culture: Build professional growth plans for every direct report with clear markers for success. Give feedback that is direct, kind, and actionable - and receive it the same way. Stretch senior designers toward promotion and expanded scope, and make this team known as a place where great designers grow.

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in UX/Product Design, including 3+ years directly managing designers - with a portfolio and track record demonstrating both craft excellence and team leadership.
  • Hands-on experience running Agile scrum ceremonies in some capacity - sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming - and integrating design into agile product development cycles.
  • Full command of the senior IC toolkit: end-to-end product design ownership from discovery and wireframing through high-fidelity UI and production handoff. You've done the job you'll be managing - at a high level.
  • Deep proficiency in Figma, including component architecture, auto-layout, variables, and prototyping. You think in systems, not just screens - and you can teach others to do the same.
  • Hands-on experience building, governing, and scaling Design Systems that measurably accelerate design and engineering velocity.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and experience embedding inclusive design practices into team workflows.
  • Experience synthesizing behavioral analytics (FullStory, Pendo, Amplitude, or similar) and usability testing into design decisions - and coaching teams to do so.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills - you communicate design rationale persuasively to Product, Engineering, and executive audiences, and you negotiate priorities with clarity and directness.
  • Human-led and empathy-driven: you put people first, listen deeply, and build psychological safety - while staying relentlessly results-oriented and accountable to outcomes.
  • An excellent feedback giver and taker: you deliver critique that is direct, constructive, and inspiring - and you actively seek, welcome, and act on feedback about your own leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience accepted.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal Agile training certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe, or equivalent), OR robust experience serving as a scrum master or agile lead for a design and/or tech team.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, or enterprise platform products with complex workflows and data-dense interfaces.
  • Track record of improving team health, morale, and retention metrics in design organizations - with measurable evidence.
  • Experience implementing JIRA-based or equivalent tracking systems for design teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-augmented design workflows and integrating AI tooling into team processes at scale.
  • Experience leading teams through organizational transformation, process change, or leadership transition.

Why Join Us
  • Lead and Still Create: This is a player-coach role. You'll shape people, process, and culture - while staying close enough to the craft that your design instincts stay sharp.
  • Define the Operating System: You're not inheriting a process - you're building it. The agile design motion, the JIRA-for-Design mechanism, the feedback culture: yours to spearhead.
  • Direct Strategic Access: You report directly to the SVP, Experience Strategy & Product Design and serve as the operational partner translating strategy into daily execution.
  • A Team Built to Win: You'll work alongside a UX Architect, UX Researcher, and senior designers - a deliberately constructed team where every role raises the others.
  • Values-Led Culture: We set the standard high, bring others up with us, lead with transparency and empathy, and stay direct. If you lead that way - this is your team.
  • World-Class Backing: SecurityScorecard is funded by Silver Lake Waterman, Moody's, Sequoia Capital, GV, and Riverwood Capital, and recognized as one of the World's Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.

Benefits:
Specific to each country, we offer a competitive salary, stock options, Health benefits, and unlimited PTO, parental leave, tuition reimbursements, and much more!
The estimated total compensation range for this position is $185,000 - $230,000 (base plus bonus). Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications and experience, and may vary from the range.
