General Function:
As a Senior User Experience Designer, you will lead the design of intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences that help make our customers' lives easier, healthier, and happier. You will play a key role in shaping user-centered solutions across Hy-Vee.com, the Hy-Vee mobile app, and other digital platforms. This role emphasizes strong interaction design, applied research, and strategic collaboration across product, engineering, and business partners. Senior Designers are expected to independently drive complex projects, influence design decisions, and elevate UX maturity across teams.

Accountable and Reports to: Senior User Experience Manager
Direct Reports: None
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead UX efforts on complex initiatives across the shopper journey
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and shape solutions
  • Advocate for user-centered design practices and articulate the value of UX to partners
  • Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Create high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Facilitate and contribute to design critiques, providing thoughtful and actionable feedback
  • Conduct and analyze usability testing to identify and prioritize improvements
  • Translate research insights and data into clear design recommendations
  • Present design concepts and research findings to cross-functional audiences
  • Partner with developers to ensure design intent, quality, and accessibility standards are met
  • Contribute to and help evolve the Design System and UX standards
  • Stay current on UX trends, best practices, and accessibility guidelines

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 6-9 years of related user experience design experience

Physical Requirements:
Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
