Job description

Job Accountabilities (in addition to the statements on the Cross-Campus Job Description):

  • Responsible for setup/tear down of event related IT/AV functions including delivering equipment, supplies, and other materials related to events. Setup of temporary and event related TV's and TV services, set up of temporary audio systems.
  • Facilitates warehouse equipment movement and event setup/teardown.
  • Help with the assembly of event staging, event space layouts, and other event materials.
  • Serves as facility IT/AV contact to adjust event setups, monitor and deliver on-demand event changes and ensure facility is properly set for events. Serves as site contact for variety of small events ranging from onsite meetings to various youth sporting events.
  • Facilitates small facility improvement projects related to IT/AV functionality including minor cable pulling, labeling, phone line delivery, and audio repairs and maintenance.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons in any way possible and ensuring they have a great experience at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and 1 year of industry relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, IT focus, Audio/Video production, or other related fields and a year of industry relevant experience.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of large venue, facility, or public assembly building IT/AV related operations and maintenance.
  • Experience in the setup, execution, and teardown of events is preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Some experience in the operation of light duty machinery (forklift, scissor lift, pallet jacks) is preferred.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.

Additional Information

  • This job will require a flexible schedule. May have to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • Understand both verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to work under limited supervision

The hourly rate range for this position is $20.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

This position serves as event staff representative for pre/during/and post events as necessary in terms of Audio/Video and other event needs. Organizes and orchestrates flow of IT/AV equipment inventory. Serves as an IT/AV Event staff who will move, pickup, deliver, and/or install IT/AV related equipment and other materials as assigned/dictated by the event. Mounting televisions, setting up temporary or portable speaker systems, installing temporary event phones/phone lines, mounting temporary or permanent access points are all general scopes of work for events. In addition, opportunities for larger scale projects include running new fiber and CAT5 cable for various IT needs.
Assists with the execution of large scale and smaller facility events including athletic competitions, concerts, and community events. Assists with demonstrating first class customer service.
