UCT is looking for a talented Manager, Tax to join us in Hayward, CA!   

The Tax Manager, US Tax Operations supports the execution of US federal, state, and local direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting for the organization. This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, supports process optimization, and partners closely with cross‑functional teams including Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Legal, and external advisors. The position requires technical tax expertise and the ability to manage complex workflows in a fast‑moving environment.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Tax Compliance & Reporting 

  • Support the preparation, review, and timely filing of all US federal, state, and local income tax returns.
  • Support the quarterly and annual tax provision processes under ASC 740.
  • Oversee non-income tax compliance activities, including franchise, gross receipts, property, US sales/use and business license tax filings as applicable.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries, coordinating responses and documentation.
  • Support the execution of the company's global transfer pricing policies and intercompany pricing frameworks.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of annual transfer pricing documentation, including local files, master files, and supporting analyses.
  • Assist in maintaining transfer pricing documentation, intercompany agreements, and process narratives.

 Technology & Process Optimization 

  • Support process improvements through automation, technology adoption, and streamlined workflows.

  • Collaborate with IT and Finance to improve data quality and streamline tax data flows.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration 

  • Serve as a key liaison between tax operations and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, advisors, and tax authorities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 6-8+ years tax experience working for a multinational company and/or accounting firm.
  • Expertise in US federal and state income tax compliance and ASC 740.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and willing to take ownership of projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in fast‑paced settings.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with tax technology platforms (e.g., OneSource, Corp tax, Alteryx).
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with tax implications of M&A.
  • Experience with Longview Tax Provision.

Education, Certifications, and Requirement:

Minimum Education and Certification Qualifications: 

  • BS/BA degree with an emphasis on Accounting/Finance.

Preferred Education and Certification Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree in Accounting/Finance/Tax.

Work Environment: 

  • Analytical — heavy use of tax law, financial data, and modeling.
  • Strategic — advising leadership on tax planning, risk, and long‑term implications.
  • Regulated — strict adherence to federal, state, and international tax rules.
  • Deadline‑driven — especially during quarterly closes, audits, and filing seasons.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $109,600.00 and $156,640.00/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.  

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
