Galveston County Health District is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Attending Paramedics to join the Galveston Area Ambulance Authority (GAAA). In this role, you will provide critical pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical care while ensuring patient safety, quality treatment, and compliance with established protocols.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide emergency and non-emergency medical care and transport patients safely
  • Assess patient conditions and make appropriate triage decisions
  • Administer treatment following standing orders and Medical Director protocols
  • Communicate patient status and care information to receiving facilities
  • Operate ambulance safely in compliance with all laws and policies
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient care reports (ePCR)
  • Ensure ambulance, equipment, and supplies are operational and properly maintained
  • Assist with patient extrication and scene management
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, fire personnel, and healthcare providers
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care at all times

What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Texas Paramedic certification/licensure (no unresolved DSHS complaints)
  • Current AHA CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Ability to obtain Medical Director protocol certification within 30 days
  • Strong knowledge of EMS practices, patient care, and emergency response
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Valid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain) with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass written exam, skills testing, physical exam, and agility test
  • Must meet immunization, background check, DMV/MVR, and drug screening requirements

Equivalent education and experience may be considered
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry patients (up to 250 lbs with assistance)
  • Work in high-stress, fast-paced, and physically demanding environments
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, bodily fluids, and emergency scenes
  • Must maintain physical stamina to perform CPR and emergency procedures
