Summary of Position
Temple Health is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible General Surgeon to join our growing surgical program at Jeanes Hospital, part of Temple University Health System.
We are looking for a surgeon who enjoys being clinically busy, wants to build and grow a broad-based general surgery practice, and values the opportunity to practice in a community hospital while remaining connected to the resources, teaching mission, and academic environment of a major university health system.
This position is part of Temple Health's development of a Division of Community General Surgery, designed to strengthen elective general surgery and emergency surgical care across our community hospitals. The initial clinical focus will be at Jeanes Hospital, with participation in acute care/emergency general surgery call and, over time, development of a collaborative cross-coverage model with Temple Health - Chestnut Hill Hospital and Women and Families Hospital.
The Opportunity

• Maintain a broad operative practice with a mix of elective and emergency general surgery
• Participate in acute care and emergency general surgery call at the community hospital level
• Help develop an integrated community general surgery program across Temple Health
• Teach and work with Temple surgical residents and Lewis Katz School of Medicine students in a university-affiliated hospital setting
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other specialists throughout Temple Health
• Benefit from the referral network, clinical resources, and tertiary and quaternary capabilities of Temple University Hospital
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a clinically focused surgeon who likes to operate, enjoys taking care of a broad range of general surgical conditions, and is energized by the opportunity to grow a practice.
Candidates should have:
• Board eligibility or certification in General Surgery
• Strong clinical and operative skills across the breadth of general surgery
• Interest in both elective and emergency general surgery
• Commitment to quality, safety, teamwork, and patient-centered care
• Enthusiasm for resident and medical student teaching
• Interest in helping build a growing community-based surgical program
Fellowship training is welcome but not required.
Why Temple Health
This position offers a distinctive combination: the clinical breadth and autonomy of community surgery with the academic affiliation, teaching opportunities, specialty support, and resources of Temple Health.
For a surgeon who wants to build a practice, stay clinically active, teach the next generation of physicians, and help shape a growing community general surgery program, this is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact from the outset.
Procedure for Candidacy
To be considered for this position, you must complete an online application.
Application materials should include: a curriculum vitae; a personal statement stating your qualifications, professional goals, three professional references, names/contact information, and a statement describing working effectively in an urban environment is strongly encouraged.
