Job description

Join Aurora Behavioral Health System and become a part of the state's largest free-standing behavioral health system. Our Level 1, acute care hospital located in Tempe, Arizona is licensed to treat adults and adolescents for a wide range of psychiatric conditions and chemical dependency. Our team is dedicated to the wellness of individuals, their families, and the community through prevention, intervention and treatment.
DESCRIPTION:
We are currently seeking an experienced Utilization Review (UR) Coordinator. Please note: This is an administrative Utilization Review role and does not require an RN license.
The UR Coordinator will monitor adherence to the hospital's utilization review plan to ensure the effective and efficient use of hospital services and optimize reimbursement. This position will monitor the appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospital stays. The UR Coordinator will improve patient outcomes and close care gaps by providing post-discharge follow-up. The UR Coordinator will conduct initial, concurrent, and discharge reviews with payers and serve as a liaison between insurance providers and the clinical team.
Requirements:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree required
โ€ข Experience in a psychiatric setting and knowledge of health care service delivery systems and third-party reimbursement.
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Knowledge of managed care environment; ability to apply and interpret admission and continued stay criteria.
โ€ข Understanding of admission and discharge function; familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic terms and treatment modalities.
โ€ข Knowledge of medical record keeping; strong interpersonal, organizational, evaluative, and time management skills.
โ€ข Policy interpretation skills; familiarity with applicable standards and regulations; flexibility; attention to detail; able to comprehend psychiatric evaluations, consults, lab results, etc.
โ€ข Responsiveness to deadlines; assertiveness, persistence, and persuasiveness; able to work with minimal direction or supervision.
โ€ข Must be 21 years of age or older.
โ€ข Current negative TB test and medical clearance.
โ€ข Pass a background check, drug screen, and currently possess or meet qualifications for an Arizona DPS, Level One fingerprint clearance.
