Job description

Position: Applications Engineer
The Applications Engineer will develop proficiency in engineering of oil and gas production equipment for upstream and midstream applications with emphasis on upstream facilities. The candidate must have experience with selection of components such as valves and instruments for petrochem equipment. Capable of proposal preparation including review of customer requirements and specifications, process or systems design, flow diagrams, P amp;ID’s, and equipment selection. The engineer determines functionality and design to provide the best and most cost-effective engineering to meet the customer's requirements. Develops designs for natural gas, crude oil and intermediate liquids production equipment and related facilities. Effective communicator works with sales, manufacturing, applications teams and customers to present Titan solutions.
Reporting to the Proposals Manager, the Applications Engineer’s duties are as follows:
Job Description:
  • Ensures bid proposals are effectively engineered, provides drawings, P amp;ID’s and BOM’s to internal and external customers according to bid requests.
  • Obtains and evaluates major equipment vendor quotations and assists estimating with other costs that may be of difficulty to obtain.
  • Reviews estimates, prepares final proposals and provides technical information to sales team.
  • Assures timely engineering effort is maintained by performing proposal project engineering functions including vendor inquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis and vendor selection, preparation of process and auxiliary system process and mechanical flow diagrams.
  • Provides Engineering calculations for flow rates, piping sizes for all systems, hydraulic level specifications, retention and settling times, heat duty requirements, prepares ASME code calculations for process pressure vessels.
  • Provides Engineering to evaluate customer bid drawings for technical and commercial content.
  • Maintains proposal work schedule to ensure coordination of all aspects of engineering and estimating work to ensure timely proposal completion. Coordinates all aspects of customer content changes during proposal phase.
  • Works closely with Project Engineers or Project Managers assigned to the project upon award to ensure there is a clear scope of supply and well defined design parameters.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize multiple RFQ’s simultaneously
  • Includes minor travel requirements to ensure coordination and communication of project requirements
Required Skills or Tools:
  • Should have academic background or experience in design of natural gas dehydration systems (absorbers/reboilers), separators, filter separators and coalescers, line heaters, fuel gas filters, skimmers, knockouts, JT plants, stabilizers, heater treaters, heated separators and miscellaneous upstream equipment.
  • Familiar with Upstream and Midstream customer equipment and design specifications for domestic onshore, offshore, Gulf of Mexico or international applications.
  • Knowledge of industry specifications such as ASME Code Section VIII Div. 1, ASME Section II, AWS D1.1, ANSI B31.3, B31.8, B16.5, B16.11, NACE MR-0175 ISO 15156, API Guidelines 14C, 14E, 12J, 12 GDU, 12K, 520, 521 etc
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical Engineering or experience in related field.
  • One to three years engineering and design experience with gas and liquids production equipment and facilities including: Oil amp; Gas Separators, Oil amp; Gas Dehydration, Glycol Regeneration, ASME pressure vessel code and calculations of and/or training.
Physical Strain:
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
