Job description

UPS Field Service Engineer

West Palm Beach, FL | Home-Based / Field Deployment | Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing
  • Perform preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications on UPS and critical power equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment including UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, and related power electronics
  • Assist in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for scheduled and emergency work
  • Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues
  • Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive recommendations to clients
  • Train periodically at company headquarters on testing equipment and system rebuilds
  • Work independently from a home base with primary coverage across South Florida (Miami to West Palm Beach); occasional national travel may be required for emergencies

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on UPS and critical power field service experience; 10+ years preferred
  • OEM factory training or direct experience with Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI
  • Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturers' specifications
  • Physically capable of repeated bending and lifting up to 100 lbs
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and on-call as needed
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Clean driving record
  • Preferred location: West Palm Beach area or anywhere within the Miami to West Palm Beach corridor

Preferred

  • Prior experience with third-party UPS service providers
  • Technical degree from DeVry, Lincoln Tech, or equivalent program
  • Military veterans with electrical/mechanical systems experience are strongly encouraged to apply (Navy EMN/ETN/MMN, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard)
