Job description

Director of Revenue Accounting & Reimbursement

Skilled Nursing / Post-Acute | Southern CA

Full Spectrum Search Group is a full-service healthcare recruiting agency specializing in post-acute leadership and healthcare administration, serving skilled nursing, senior living, home health, hospice, home care, and the providers and technologies that support the post-acute space. We are representing one of the largest and fastest-growing SNF operators in the country spanning 17 states and actively expanding. We are assisting them in their search for a Director of Revenue Accounting & Reimbursement based out of their Southern CA service center.

This is a technically specialized role at the intersection of state Medicaid program interpretation and GAAP revenue recognition. If you have spent your career learning how state supplemental programs translate to the balance sheet, this opportunity was built for someone with exactly that background.

Four Uniques

- Scale and trajectory that are genuinely rare: approximately 50 SNF acquisitions projected in the current year alone.

- The person in this seat will have a front-row view of one of the most active growth stories in post-acute healthcare.

- Direct access to a Chief Accounting Officer with over a decade of tenure with the organization.

- Competitive base, plus bonus, plus an opportunity to earn stock for high performers.

Position Summary

This position serves as the technical bridge between the organization's reimbursement and government relations function and its financial reporting infrastructure. The core work is reading state Medicaid supplemental program documents, state budgets, and legislative updates, then translating those program mechanics into GAAP-compliant revenue recognition and communicating the financial implications across the multi-state portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Read, interpret, and translate state Medicaid supplemental programs, UPL/IGT-type funding flows, state budget documents, and legislative changes into GAAP-compliant revenue recognition entries and accruals.

- Serve as the primary liaison between the reimbursement and government relations team and the accounting team, resolving competing interpretations of how program revenue should be recognized and recorded.

- Perform and oversee monthly revenue accruals in coordination with controllers and internal department leads across the portfolio.

- Support the organization when entering new states: project program-driven revenue, inform operator-level pricing decisions based on applicable program parameters, and communicate financial implications to the broader finance team.

- Partner with finance leaders across the portfolio to ensure new or changing state programs are accurately reflected in financial reporting.

- Directly manage one Senior Revenue Accountant, with an anticipated expansion of the team as the revenue function matures.

- Engage with state associations alongside the reimbursement team as applicable.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated technical understanding of how post-acute state Medicaid programs — supplemental programs, UPL/IGT-type federal-to-state funding flows, state budget cycles — drive revenue recognition under GAAP. The ability to move between a program document and an accounting entry without a translator is a core requirement.

- Healthcare accounting background with meaningful exposure to complex government payor revenue. SNF experience at a multi-state or large regional operator is the primary preference. Home health, hospice, hospital, or LTAC backgrounds are also considered. Managed care payer experience is also considered.

- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret state legislative and program documents.

- California, Texas, and/or Utah state Medicaid program familiarity is a meaningful plus.

- Experience supporting operator-level projections and pricing decisions tied to program reimbursement rates is a plus.

- Prior controller background at a hands-on post-acute company, or experience bridging reimbursement and accounting teams at a large SNF operator or comparable organization, strengthens a candidacy materially.

- Candidates transitioning from managed care or adjacent healthcare settings with strong technical revenue accounting fundamentals are encouraged to apply.
