Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to support core accounting operations in Ohio. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who can manage daily financial activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute thoughtful analysis to support sound business decisions. The role offers the opportunity to work across multiple accounting areas while partnering with teams to improve accuracy and consistency in financial reporting. Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries to the general ledger across key accounting areas such as cash, prepaid expenses, inventory, and accrued items.

• Examine accounting transactions and ledger classifications to confirm completeness, accuracy, and alignment with established procedures.

• Evaluate financial data and reporting trends to identify issues, support reserve and asset review, and provide practical recommendations on spending-related matters.

• Perform targeted analyses as needed to address business questions and assist in resolving accounting variances or unusual balances.

• Recommend improvements to accounting approaches, workflows, and documentation to strengthen process efficiency and reporting quality.

• Partner with internal departments and different business locations to address accounting questions, gather required information, and ensure coordinated financial activity.

• Support routine accounting operations and contribute to additional finance-related tasks assigned by leadership.

• Experience working with general ledger activity, journal entries, and core accounting functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reconciliations, and data review.
• Understanding of cash activity, prepaid accounts, accruals, and expenditure tracking.
• Ability to review financial records carefully and apply auditing principles to validate accuracy.
• Familiarity with financial reporting practices and accounting procedures in a detail-focused environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to complete ad hoc analysis and interpret financial information.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support accounting needs across departments.
