Job description

Title- Software Engineer III (with Unreal Engine & Cinematic Content Tools)

Location- Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)

As a Software Engineer III on an unannounced R&D project, you will build the content creation workflows that unlock world class visual spectacle in a new action game. You will use your understanding of the entire software development lifecycle, while honing your craft in Animation, Camera, Content Pipelines, and Rendering. You will work with state-of-the-art technology, and explore new solutions to surprise and delight our players. You will report to the Director of Engineering of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain tools & processes in direct collaboration with the Art discipline
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline developers to gather requirements
  • Participate in and guide technical design and implementation
  • Help shape the technical direction and standards for the team
  • Contribute substantially to the codebase
  • Oversee the quality and maintainability of your code
  • Mentor other engineers on the team in all aspects of game development

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of game development experience
  • 3+ years of experience building tools for a cross-disciplinary team
  • 3+ years of experience with building tools for artists
  • Professional experience creating tools in Unreal 4 or 5
  • Experience developing cinematics or camera tools in Unreal
  • Experience building tools & extensions for modern DCCs like Maya, 3DSMax, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of common game and software design patterns
  • Strong ability to collaborate with teammates across multiple disciplines
  • Extensive contribution to at least one shipped game title
  • Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making tech decisions

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience using Unreal Engine
  • Experience with visual scripting systems
  • Deep knowledge of modern C++
  • Experience working collaboratively with other engineers on technical design and implementation
