Most nursing jobs require that you have passed the NCLEX nursing exam, but for those that have yet to do so, or for those whose licensure may have expired, unlicensed nursing jobs are administrative or support positions in which you provide assistance to licensed nurse practitioners or registered nurses. Administrative jobs include medical coding or insurance billing positions. In these positions, your duties include reviewing patient medical histories and electronic health records, querying insurance companies, and double-checking information against other patient records. More hands-on positions, such as being a nurse's assistant, include patient care and advocacy duties. You can get unlicensed nursing jobs in a specialization, such as assisting a cardiovascular or emergency nurse, and such positions are useful for skills training if you are considering a further career as an RN.
