Dominion Hospital, the only freestanding mental health facility in Northern VA, is seeking an experienced Hospital Unit Coordinator to support our team. The Hospital Unit Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu through prompt reporting of observed behavior, milieu processes and other pertinent information. Additional duties will include secretarial/administrative duties necessary for the general management and organization of the nursing unit including but not limited to: transcribing orders, faxing information, maintaining the patient chart, directing visitors and directing phone calls and prioritizing and directing patient calls. The Hospital Unit Coordinator must be able to prioritize and anticipate needs and maintain a calm composure in stressful situations.

What You'll Do
Provides appropriate information to assist RN with admission and shift RN assessments.
Answers calls in a professional and timely fashion and maintains safety and efficiency at the front desk.
Able to speak clearly; good telephone mannerisms; is friendly and empathetic in order to project a positive image of the unit and encourage open communication.
Works in coordination with the medical records department to complete timely account changes and assists in planning monthly copying and filing of documents.
Actively participates in quality management activities by timely reporting of staff, family, visitor or quality concerns.
Uses the Meditech order entry system for all functions utilized in Dominion Hospital including, but not limited to, entering admission data, transfers, discharges, orders for diagnostic testing, accessing results of diagnostic testing and sending messages to other departments.
Ensure charts are completed and accurate
Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained for treatments
Organizes patient information in a safe and secure area.
Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate degree in social science and/ or at least 1 year in a related field-Preferred.
Certifications: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and Crisis Prevention Institute.
Experience: Hospital administrative experience preferred. Good verbal and writing skills essential; computer skills preferred.
