Job description


As an HVAC Apprentice here at Honeywell, you will work under the direction of experienced HVAC Service Technicians to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and mechanical systems. Candidates will be required to join the applicable union apprenticeship program, which provides structured technical training and hands-on field experience to support skill development.
You will report directly to our Field Service Manager and work out of our Albuquerque, NM location on a Hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will support the installation and service of commercial HVAC equipment while learning industry best practices, maintaining a safe work environment, and contributing to Honeywell's commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Journeyman HVAC Technicians with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Learn to inspect, test, and diagnose HVAC equipment under the supervision of experienced technicians.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Support the installation and service of chillers, boilers, rooftop units, air handlers, pumps, and related HVAC systems.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and trade-specific equipment.
  • Follow all Honeywell, customer, OSHA, and union safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate job progress with the field service team.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the Albuquerque, NM area and surrounding markets.
  • Complete apprenticeship training requirements and participate in classroom instruction as required by Local 412.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current membership in, or eligibility to join, Local 412.
  • 0-1 year of basic mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn the HVAC trade.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening for customer sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work from lifts, and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Albuquerque, NM area and surrounding markets.

WE VALUE
  • Enrollment in or completion of the Local 412 apprenticeship program.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, controls, or mechanical systems.
  • EPA Universal Section 608 Certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous learning.
