Telecommunications Technician-OCONUS
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Telecommunication Technician holding a Top Secret Clearance who will be a key support to the installation of Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems in Norfolk, Virginia and abroad.

Job Description:
  • Install Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems Fiber, Copper, Coax.
  • Qualified in termination of cabling, including CAT 5e, CAT 6 Copper cabling, Fiber Optics, Anaerobic, Unicams, and splice on connectors SC and LC, & Coaxial in accordance with EIA/TIA standards.
  • Fusion splicing Cartridges Pigtails and MPO connectors is a plus.
  • Read and understand Telecom blueprints.
  • Experience with Versive Fluke testing equipment also a plus.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of technical experience.
  • Must have technical experience with installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems.
  • Must have experience in some Telecom installation systems including, but not limited to:
    • Telecom Room Build-Out (cabinets, ladder rack, etc)
    • Fiber Optic terminations (Unicam, Anarobic,& fusion splicing)
    • UTP/STP Category 6 copper terminations Beldon Amp Panduit ect...
    • Familiar with industry leading manufacture installation and termination practices (BICSI, CommScope, Belden, CPI, Corning, Panduit, etc)
  • Familiarity with Fluke Versive Tester. Experience testing Copper Fiber and Coaxal cabling.
  • Must have experience performing maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of telecom cabling (fiber, Category 6, multi-pair copper)
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current Passport and valid Driver's License.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or under only limited supervision.

Desired Qualifications:
  • BISCI Technician or Installer Certification, preferred.
  • Manufacture Installer Certifications (CommScope, Corning, Belden,etc), preferred.
  • Prefer at least 2 years' experience with installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems, preferred.

Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DOD Top Secret clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance.

Travel Requirements:
  • More than 95% Travel-International/domestic airline travel (coach only)
  • Extended hotel stays
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, & kneel up to 75% of the time.
  • Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).
  • Must be able to lift u to 50 lbs.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), Inside or Outside / Noise levels
