Job description

Job Purpose:

Under direct supervision of the Pension Department Assistant Manager and/or Lead or Senior Pension Representative, individual will be in a training capacity to determine suitability for retirement work.

Job Duties:

  • Demonstrate continuous learning improvement and the ability to learn the Plan of benefits assigned to them and work toward developing an understanding of Plans on other work stations within the Department to assist if necessary.
  • Maintains and updates all records necessary to process retirement applications.
  • Receives, computes, researches and evaluates requests for vesting, retirement, death and/or health and welfare benefits.
  • Personal interviewing of Plans participants, beneficiaries or other representatives.
  • Coordinates with other departments, Union Representatives, Trustees and other persons as required.
  • Learns the different codes in the Pension database.
  • Performs all related duties including, but not limited to, telephone, and personal contact communications, correspondence preparation, suspense cutoff processing and record keeping.
  • Involved in a variety of routine and semi-routine duties.
  • Must show desire and ability to perform duties as described in the position titled โ€œRetirement Representativeโ€.

Qualification and Skills:

Education:

Two (2) years college preferred (AA Degree)

Keyboarding Required:

Yes รฝ No ยจ WPM 60-70

PC Experience Required:

Yes รฝ No ยจ (Microsoft Office Suite)

Previous Experience Required:

Yes รฝ No ยจ

Three (3) years general office experience required.

  • Demonstrate initiative along with good concentration and problem solving abilities.
