Job Description
Job Title: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse
Profession: Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: Minimum 1 year required
License: Active state license required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
Must-Have: Previous ICU experience preferred; Travel experience required
Description:
Position requires a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
The shift is three 12-hour nights.
Experience of at least one year in a similar role is required.
First-time travelers are not accepted.
Nurse-patient ratio can reach 1:3.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Candidates must float to other units within their scope as needed, primarily to other ICUs.
Block scheduling requests can be discussed with management.
Candidates must have an active state license in hand to apply.
Candidates ideally should have no more than five days of requested time off.
The facility may call off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without compensation for canceled hours.
If more than the permitted hours are canceled, shifts will be billed accordingly.
Candidates must have charting experience with the specified system.
Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Necessary skills include vent management, central line management, and neuro assessments.
The unit supports adults and has an average daily census of 11 patients.
Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including respiratory and pharmacy.
Patient diagnoses include neurological issues, elective surgeries, and post-operative complications.
Special procedures performed in the unit may include EVD placements and frequent neuro assessments.
Floating to other ICUs is a requirement for all travelers.
Candidates must work two out of three major holidays.
All compliance needs must be completed in a timely manner.
Reference checks will be conducted prior to the offer.
Candidates should confirm the accuracy of their requested time off and availability prior to submission.
