MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Unit Highlights

The Cardiovascular OR at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital is part of one of the Top 10 cardiac programs in the country, delivering advanced, high-acuity cardiovascular surgical care in a collaborative team environment.

Our team includes 18 experienced nurses working alongside 3 Open Heart Surgeons and 5 Vascular Surgeons. The CVOR supports a wide range of complex procedures including vascular surgery, open heart cases, catheter-based valve procedures, TEE, cardioversion, and thoracic cases.

RNs in this unit are required to be proficient in both scrubbing and circulating, ensuring versatility and high-level perioperative expertise.

The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, Mondayโ€“Friday, with on-call and holiday call requirements. Full-time and per diem opportunities are available.

This fast-paced, specialized unit is ideal for nurses seeking advanced cardiovascular OR experience within a nationally recognized cardiac program.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needsโ€”from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team
