Job description

Overview

Compensation: $105,000 - $150,000 annually based on experience and credentials

Location Type: Remote (candidate must reside in FL)
Position Type: Full Time

The Data Engineering Manager will oversee the credit union's data engineering team, ensuring the design, evaluation, and testing of robust data infrastructures. This role involves managing the daily operations of the data engineering team, coordinating with various departments to meet data needs, and implementing best practices for data management and infrastructure. The manager will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team to support the organization's strategic goals. Additionally, the manager will assign work and delegate responsibilities to staff, monitoring progress to ensure goals are met and high-quality member service is maintained.


Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the data engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manages the Credit Union's data infrastructure to develop operational data pipelines 
  • Guide the team in utilizing Azure Data Factory to create pipelines, tuning databases and ETL for maximum performance, performing data profiling, cleansing, and auditing, architecting advanced data solution
  • Supervise the design and development of ETL processes for extracting data from multiple source systems, transforming it, and loading it into data platforms
  • Leverages the Agile framework to prioritize and complete ad hoc and department-related tasks
  • Leverage existing data infrastructure to fulfill data-related requests, perform data housekeeping,cleansing, normalization, hashing, and implement required data model changes
  • Oversee the deployment of data architectures based on standards set by the manager to drive Suncoast's data strategy and transform business strategies into information architectures.
  • Provides technical assistance to end-users and technical staff regarding system and reporting issues.
  • Inform end-users and technical support staff on data warehouse applications and reporting services.
  • Review and recommend new methods or procedures to make daily operations more efficient
  • Perform considerable short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating to develop and implement business objectives
  • Set goals for assigned teams to achieve operational and strategic results
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and development opportunities for directly reporting staff
  • Cultivate strong working relationships, build trust among team members, and respond appropriately to employees' concerns
  • Assist with the development, monitoring, and maintenance of the annual budget
  • Assist with regulatory compliance to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
  • Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information technology, information systems, engineering, mathematics or a related field required.
  • 5 or more years progressively responsible experience in data engineering, preferably with a financial institution. Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Advanced technical skills including SQL DW, SSRS, PowerBI, and other data visualization software knowledge required. 
  • Proficient knowledge of Azure or Apache Spark required
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, and other relevant technologies
  • Skills in using Databricks Unity Catalog for data management and proficiency in writing and managing Databricks notebooks
  • A solid understanding of Blob / Data Lake Storage.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization and analytical skills to effectively manage areas of responsibility and attain organizational goals
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems or situations
  • Ability to positively influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties preferred
