Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., has been a trusted leader in the waterworks industry for over 100 years. We manufacture and distribute high-quality ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes that keep essential infrastructure running strong.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability of our operations by planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The Maintenance Planner will help reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and support the safe and effective use of our maintenance resources.

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Develop work plans for corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Create and schedule maintenance work orders in CMMS.
  • Ensure materials, tools, and labor are available prior to work.
  • Review job plans with maintenance supervisors and crafts.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance metrics (e.g. backlog, schedule adherence, downtime).
  • Assist in root cause analysis and reliability improvement efforts.
  • Maintain BOMs, parts lists, and spare parts inventory.
  • Lead planning / coordination meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and maintenance standards.
  • Update maintenance documentation, drawings, procedures.
  • Provide support during shutdowns, outages, or critical events.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, maintenance technology, or industrial operations or equivalent experience.
  • At least three (3) years of maintenance planning / scheduling experience (heavy manufacturing preferred).
  • Experience with CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
  • Good analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical / electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of reliability practices, predictive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with maintenance KPIs and metrics.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Related certification (e.g. CMRT, CMRP, PMP) preferred.

Physical & Cognitive Abilities

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Primarily on-site in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
  • The work environment varies from a typical office setting to a plant environment that may be hot, cold, dusty, and noisy.  It is a requirement to be in and out of the plant on a regular basis.
